Literacy Support
Our volunteers partner with The Link Literacy Project to teach children in Grade 2 and 3 (Ages 8-10) to read. Many are shocked when they realise that there are children in Grade 3 who still can’t read, but this isthe reality teachers deal with daily. We currently operate in two local schools: Risidale Primary and Florida Primary.
Our volunteers spend time one-on-one, twice a week for 45 minutes as follows:
– 15 minutes reading to the volunteer
– 15 minutes of literacy games and support
– 15 minutes reading a story to the child
We also partner with the schools for teacher and student support and any other community needs that arise. See more about our partnerships below:
